Selling

How do I sell on Relove?

Log in or register for an account, then carefully read our Terms and Conditions.

Select 'Start selling', and follow the simple steps.

Once you have completed your listing, select 'Publish' and your item will go to our team for approval. Once they have verified your listing, they'll put it live.

What can I sell on Relove?

To be sold on Relove, an item should:

  • be from one of our selected brands;
  • be in excellent condition;
  • be fewer than five years old;
  • match one which can be found in our archive. This allows us to provide original pricing information, as well as in-depth product descriptions.

If an item does not fulfil the criteria, it may be rejected.

We have such stringent criteria:

  1. To help buyers make fully-informed, considered decisions about what they purchase on Relove;
  2. To make the selling process as seamless and light-touch as possible. We want to help you sell your items quickly and for the best price and we don’t want anyone to have to deal with the hassle of returned items.

For further guidance on what can and cannot be sold on Relove, please read our Listing Rules, which form part of our Terms and Conditions.

If you have any questions about selling on our site, please contact [email protected].

General guidelines

The price of an item should reflect its age, its condition and the price it was originally sold for.

In your listing, please be honest about the condition of the item. If the item has marks or is slightly damaged, state this in the listing and provide photographs.

Please include as much detail as you can in your listing... it will help your item to sell.

Please note

  • Always photograph the entire item, keep the background simple and avoid blurred or filtered images.
  • Clear, detailed photos improve browsing and increase selling potential.
  • Do not upload any images which you do not own or have permission from the owner to upload.
  • All proof of authenticity should be included in your images, from receipt to ribbon.
  • Professional sellers are defined as a business using the platform to sell their items. It is their responsibility to follow the UK laws for selling and declaring.

Photo guide

Having informative, high quality photos will help you attract a buyer’s attention and sell more quickly.

Here are the things to keep in mind when taking photos and adding them to your listing:

  1. Make sure your first picture shows the entire item;
  2. Only use your own pictures. Images which you find online will not show the current condition of your item;
  3. Take pictures in natural daylight... don't use flash or filters;
  4. If your item is brand new with tags, upload images of the tags;
  5. Show the item's defects in the images. If you don't mention them, the buyer may request a refund;
  6. If your item is from a luxury brand, submit an image of the purchase receipt;
  7. If you have original packaging, including boxes and dustbags, upload images of them.

Condition guide

Here’s a step by step guide to the different conditions you can choose when listing and describing your item

NEVER WORN WITH TAGS

An item that is in brand new condition, unworn and flawless, with the original tags still attached.

NEVER WORN

The original tags aren't attached, but the item is as new and has never been worn.

VERY GOOD CONDITION

A second-hand item that is hardly worn and has been very well maintained, although it may have slight defects from wear. Any flaws or alterations must be clearly described when listing the item.

GOOD CONDITION

An item in Good Condition is a second-hand item and has been worn but is well maintained. If the item has flaws, these must be mentioned in the description and be visible in photos.

FAIR CONDITION

A second-hand item which has been frequently worn and which may have numerous flaws.

Can I edit a listing?

You can edit the price, shipping price and description, and you can add/change images without removing your item from sale.

How do I remove an item from sale?

Go to the 'Listings' page in your account, select the item you wish to delete, then select 'Delete' at the bottom of the list. You can delete multiple items in one go.

We strongly recommend you promptly remove any unavailable items from your listings to avoid selling items you no longer have in stock.

Your seller status could be negatively affected by selling unavailable items that must then be cancelled and refunded.

How can I let buyers know when I'm away?

If you are going on holiday, please remember to check your emails while you're away. If you are unable to fulfil an order, please message the buyer from your account and, if necessary, contact us at [email protected].

My item sold - what's next?

When your item(s) has been purchased, please post it via a tracked shipping service within five days.

Please mark your item as dispatched ONLY when it has been shipped and a tracking number is available. Please check messages and emails regularly.

Providing that the item has been delivered and no issue has been raised by the buyer, payment will be added to your Relove balance seven days after you have marked the item as dispatched.

N.B. If you do not send the item to the buyer within five days, the sale may be cancelled.

How much will I receive from my sale?

You'll receive 92% of the price you set for your item (Relove takes an 8% seller platform fee) plus the full shipping amount.

For example, if you list an item for £100 and add a shipping charge of £3.95, you'll receive £95.95: £92 (listing price - 8% seller platform fee) + £3.95 (shipping charge).

N.B. If you re-list an item you bought from someone else within five days of receiving it, we won't take the 8% seller platform fee and you'll keep 100% of the price you listed it for.

The payment will be transferred to your available Relove Balance.

Full disclosure: our payment service provider (Stripe) will charge you 0.25% purchase price + 10p, when you withdraw money from your Relove balance to your bank account.

What is Relove Balance?

Relove Balance is a secure wallet where the seller:

  1. Receives all earnings from sold items;
  2. Can withdraw their money from it to their bank account.

You also cannot top it up — it’s only there to store earnings.

Receiving earnings from sold items:

  1. When a buyer pays for an item, the payment appears under 'pending balance' in the seller's Relove Balance.
  2. The buyer has five days from being notified by Relove that the item has been dispatched to "Mark as received", or request a return.
  3. If everything is ok or if an issue is raised and resolved, the Order is completed and payment moves from “Pending balance” to “Balance”.

Once the payment is available in the seller’s balance, the seller can withdraw it to their bank account.

Why we have Relove Balance

Our payment service provider Stripe will hold the transfer of funds to the seller. This is a common practice in online marketplaces.

It ensures the buyer receives the purchased item. If something goes wrong, we may refund the buyer (though you can mutually agree on a different resolution). So, it helps us keep Relove safe and secure for both buyers and sellers.

About our payment service provider

The U.K. Financial Conduct Authority has authorised Stripe PSP as an electronic money institution under reference number 900461.

It provides and manages Relove Balance for us as a financial service.

Want to be a seller and use Relove Balance? You’ll have to activate your Relove balance and agree to Stripe's Terms and Conditions and become Stripe’s client.

This way, we’re not involved in handling or holding your money. We leave it to the professionals who do it safely.

How and when will I be paid for my sale(s)?

Providing tracking confirms successful delivery to your buyer and they do not request a return, payment will be released to your Relove Balance seven days after the shipping date.

If your buyer informs us an item has not arrived, payment will be held until it has been received.

It is the seller's responsibility to contact the shipping service they have used to track down undelivered parcels.

How do I cancel an order?

If an item you have sold is no longer available, please select 'Cancel' on the relevant order page in your account.

This action will cancel the sale and trigger a refund for your buyer, who will be informed by email.

We strongly recommend you remove any unavailable items from your listings as promptly as possible to avoid negatively impacting your seller status.
